Mark Mariscal, President has been active in the Altadena community for more than 30 years. He served as Treasurer of the Altadena Library Foundation from 2016-2022. He started his term as President on January 1, 2024. He is active with the Rotary Club of Altadena, the Friends of the Altadena Library and helps with the Union Station-Homeless Ministry at his local place of worship. For the 2021 year, he was named Altadena Citizen of the Year by the Altadena Chamber of Commerce. Mark can be emailed at [email protected].
Elsa Banuelos, Vice-President is a retired employment attorney. She grew up in Pasadena and has lived in the foothills of Altadena for over 30 years. She and her husband raised four children who were all frequent users of the Altadena library. Elsa enjoys hiking the local trails, traveling and cooking for family and friends.
Anita Lawler, Treasurer is a community leader who has lived in Altadena with her husband Vince since 2002. Anita proudly serves as a volunteer of various nonprofits in the Pasadena and East Los Angeles areas that focus on social services, the arts and health care. Professionally, Anita has over 25 years of experience in the banking industry, the majority of which were in executive management and leadership roles
Ana Peralta, Secretary is a special education teacher who is interested in early literacy and the library's importance as a bridge to foster literacy among families and the community. She currently resides in Altadena with her three children and husband. Her hobbies include traveling, photography and gardening.
David Fields is a 31-year resident of Altadena. David was initially an elementary school teacher. He transitioned from education into a 25-year career with Xerox Corporation. After "retiring" from Xerox, he was Executive Director of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Los Angeles and then assumed the role of Executive Director of the Campbell Center in Glendale. David is now really retired and looks forward to re-engaging with the Altadena community.
Claudie Kiti Bustamante has been actively promoting policy issues around health care, energy and financial literacy amongst others. She is presently working on raising awareness and implementing public education and outreach strategies in California to effectively reach underserved communities, and support community organizations around health-related statewide campaigns. She presently resides with her husband and son in Altadena.
Kelly Hokyo was born and raised in Pasadena and has resided in Altadena since 1993. Professionally, she has been in the wine industry for over 25 years and more recently a health insurance agent. Kelly volunteers at the Japanese American National Museum and serves as a Deacon at the First Presbyterian Church of Altadena. She hikes daily on the local trails with her dog and has raised a daughter along with her husband David.
Kevin Koga is a longtime Altadena resident and user of the Altadena Libraries. Kevin is a strategic communications professional with more than 30 years of experience in executive leadership, media and public relations, marketing, budgeting and agency supervision for nationally ranked medical and research centers, major non-profit organizations, academic institutions, and multi-national for-profit firms.
Natalie Orta is an experienced leader in the area of Economic and Community Development with a proven track record as a subject matter expert delivering programs and services to the multicultural Southern California business community at the local, county, state and federal levels.
Kristin Andersonhas lived in Altadena with her husband Shannon since 2001 and raised two children in the community. Professionally, Kristin has over 20 years of Human Resources experience in talent acquisition and employee engagement with leadership roles in several industries including large and small, for profit and non-profit organizations. In her own time, she enjoys cooking, exploring locally, reading always and traveling internationally as often as possible.
Carol Higais a recently retired special education administrator, who has dedicated her career to advancing the science of reading, promoting Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and championing inclusion. She is a longtime resident of Altadena, and alongside her husband Craig, raised three children in this wonderful community. She enjoys spending time with family, walking her dogs, cooking and crafting.
